Lead Man–Stamping Press Department
Job Description:
Position Summary
The Lead Man in the Stamping Press Department is a hands-on role responsible for running presses, setting up jobs, and keeping production moving on the floor. This position works alongside operators daily, leading by example while ensuring jobs are set up correctly, parts meet quality requirements, and schedules stay on track.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Production
– Set up and run single-hit and progressive stamping dies
– Set up and operate coil-fed equipment including loading, threading, and straightening material
– Perform die changeovers and get jobs up and running efficiently
– Troubleshoot press, tooling, and material issues on the floor to minimize downtime
– Jump in and run machines as needed to keep production moving
Floor Leadership
– Lead by example by working alongside operators on the production floor
– Direct operators on daily priorities and ensure jobs are running to schedule
– Train operators on proper setup, operation, and safe work practices
– Serve as the go-to person for questions and problem-solving during the shift
Production Execution
– Keep jobs on schedule and communicate delays or issues immediately
– Coordinate execution of outside services (plating, heat treat, secondary operations) to keep jobs flowing
– Work closely with shipping/receiving to ensure material and parts move in and out on time
Tooling & Equipment
– Monitor die condition and performance during runs
– Identify and address tooling issues such as wear, breakage, or misalignment
– Coordinate with maintenance and tooling for repairs and preventative maintenance
– Ensure presses and support equipment are operating safely and efficiently
Quality
– Ensure parts meet print and customer requirements
– Verify first-piece inspections and in-process checks are completed
– Address quality issues immediately and work with the team to correct them
Safety
– Follow and enforce all safety procedures on the floor
– Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of presses and equipment
– Report unsafe conditions and correct them when possible
Qualifications
– 5+ years of hands-on experience in metal stamping
– Strong experience setting up and running single-hit and progressive dies
– Experience with coil-fed stamping operations
– Proven ability to troubleshoot presses, dies, and material issues
– Prior lead or informal leadership experience preferred
– Ability to read prints and job instructions

Working Conditions
– Full-time on the production floor
– Regular standing, lifting, and physical activity
– Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and metal materials
– Overtime as needed to support production
Preferred
– Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Global Shop)
– Experience working in ISO or AS9100 environments
Pay range: $25-28 per hour based on experience
